Story of the church
The church Our Lady of the Assumption dates back to the XIII century. The structure was enlarged in the XV, XVII, XVIII and XIX centuries. .
The 1600 portal, made of local stone, was probably carved by stone- cutters from Rogliano. Very interesting is the silverware of 1760 , kept in the sacristy also dating to 1760 and made by Neapolitan silversmiths , who used silver and other noble metals extracted from the rich local mines, the font of the XII century, of Norman style, the high altar made with polychromatic marbles of the XVIII c, the choir and the sacristy, carved in local chestnut and elm wood, dating back to the XVIII c. too.
In the choir, which lies behind the high altar , a statue of Our Lady of the Assumption of 1754 dominates , while the side aisle , on the left, keeps an old wooden icon of the Virgin Mary with the Holy Child of the XV c. , worshipped as Our lady of the Assumption according to popular devotion .
