Saint James [
XVI secolo ]
Story of the church
The Church, aisleless, was built probably, around the the end of the XVI c. It is dedicated to Saint James, but as De Rosis wrote ( Cenno storico della citta' di Rossano , Naples 1838) it has hosted, by order of archbishop Pignatelli, the former parish of Saints Cosma and Damiano since 1618 . These saints were two doctors who for love of their neighbours , took care of the sick people of every social class , thus in compliance with the Evangelical precepts "Gratis acceptis, gratis date". Saints Anargirti Square, just a few metres from the Church, is named after them .
