Tablet of Peace
Description
The work represents the mystical “Wedding of Saint Catherine of Alexandria”, at which a Pope, who at the moment is not identified, assists . The artifact, which can be dated between the end of the XVIc. and the beginning of the XVII c., is reminiscent of the models of the late renaissance of Tuscany. It is not clear how the tablet came to the Cathedral of Rossano; very probably it belonged to an aristocratic legacy or to the legacy of an Archbishop of the place.
