The painting 187 cm. tall and 108 cm. wide, portraits Saint Bruno, monk and founder of the Carthusian monks . He lived in Calabria, in a little town in the province of Vibo Valencia , which, further to his death, in 1101, took the name Serra San Bruno.The painter , Venanzio Pisani, comes from Serra san Bruno as well as the purchaser, Bruno Tedeschi. The work was painted in 1842.
