Pope Urban VII
Description
The work depicts John Baptist Castagna, archbishop of Rossano from 1553 to 1573. He was later elected Pope with the name of Pope Urban VII, successor of Sisto V, on September 15th 1590, but he died of malaria on September 27th , before being consecrated . He is buried in Saint Mary sopra Minerva .
