Cartegloria

Cartegloria

Description

Cartegloria In the Museum two sets of Cartegloria are kept, each made up of three elements. The most artistically interesting are attributed to Aniello Treglia , a silversmith working in Naples in the second half of the XVII century.
The shaping of the frames and the decorations are due to flowery patterns and to spirals . On top and on the sides the saints are portrayed. The cartegloria contain some unchanging texts of the Mass , printed or handwritten , used as an aid to the memory of the officiant . The central cartegloria is bigger than the side ones, placed on each side of the altar.
